An image showing the rear-end of the long-awaited Chevrolet C8 Corvette has emerged online and while we cannot confirm its legitimacy, it certainly looks like the real thing.

This photo, shared on Corvette Forum after apparently being found on Facebook, shows a C8 Corvette in what is thought to be Elkhart Blue. The design of the rear looks very familiar thanks to the proliferation of renderings which have hit the web in recent months.

Starting with the taillights, we can see that the new C8 Corvette’s lights share some traits with those of the Chevrolet Camaro. Most significantly, the lower portions of the tail lamp units are red while the upper section is white and used for the reverse lights. Elsewhere, we can see that the C8 Corvette will get the intriguing spoiler which we’ve seen featured on a number of prototypes over the past couple of years.

Directly beneath the taillights are a pair of small black air vents while the license plate cut-out is found in the center of the rear fascia and has an angular design. Other key aspects of the car include a gloss black rear bumper and a four square tailpipes.

Chevrolet will unveil the C8 Corvette on July 18th and based on the accuracy of renderings showing the car’s rear, we believe the front end will also look virtually identical to what we’ve seen in design mock-ups. Consequently, there will be angular headlights and sharp air intakes.

Be sure to stay tuned to Carscoops over the coming weeks for more coverage of the new ‘Vette.
