Want To See The C8 Corvette Up Close? Go To Detroit On July 27

The new new C8 Corvette will celebrate its global premiere on July 18 at an invite-only event in California. However, the public will also get the opportunity to see the mid-engined ‘Vette before the month is out.

According to an official GM release, the new Corvette will be put on display at the 2019 Concours d’Elegance of America in suburban Detroit on Saturday, July 27.

Not only will the C8 Corvette be present for all to see at the event, but GM vice president for global design Michael Simcoe will also present a public seminar discussing the vehicle’s design. He will also detail some of the processes behind the development of the new sports car and be joined by other GM executives and designers, including former Corvette design chief Tom Peters.

“Concours d’Elegance of America has a long, respected history celebrating the beauty of automotive design, and that’s a history we intend to honor properly,” said Simcoe. “Attendees will be treated to unique perspectives and stories from a number of our lead designers.” Mind you, it’s not an open event but has a $65 ticket per person. Interested parties can make reservations here and, even though it’s not cheap, they’ll also get to attend another seminar as well, titled “How Enzo Changed The World” that, as you might have guessed, is about Ferrari’s legendary founder.

The new Corvette is one of the most eagerly-awaited cars in recent memory and, just yesterday, we shared exclusive photos of its interior. The most prominent features are a two-spoke steering wheel, aluminum paddle shifters and a large digital gauge cluster, an infotainment screen tilted towards the driver and a large transmission tunnel and center console separating the driver and passenger. All in all, the cabin looks to be a significant step up in terms of quality over the C7 – and, of course, all other preceding models.
