Subaru introduced the redesigned Forester last year, but that doesn’t mean the company is resting on its laurels. Quite the opposite actually as the automaker has announced a handful of updates for 2020.
Set to arrive at dealerships this fall, the 2020 Forester starts at $24,495 which is a slight increase of $200. Despite the minor increase, the model comes equipped with an improved EyeSight driver assistance system that now features a Lane Centering function and Lane Departure Prevention technology.
The updates don’t stop there as all Foresters have been equipped with a Rear Seat Reminder system. Designed to prevent children and animals from being left behind in hot cars, the system will remind drivers to check the rear seat before exiting the vehicle.

Besides the aforementioned changes, the Forester gains an updated Tire Pressure Monitoring System. Subaru didn’t say much about it, but confirmed it now has “automatic individual wheel I.D. registration.”
Additional changes are limited, but the Forester Premium starts at $27,395 and now comes equipped with the previously optional All-Weather Package. It includes heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors and a windshield de-icer.
The Sport and Limited trims largely carryover, but the range-topping Forester Touring gains new LED interior lights and a light on the tailgate. The model starts at $34,595 which is a $300 increase from last year.
All models have a 2.5-liter boxer engine that develops 182 hp (136 kW / 185 PS) and 176 lb-ft (238 Nm) of torque. It’s paired to a continuously variable transmission which sends power to a symmetrical all-wheel drive system.
