Fiat Professional is giving the Doblo compact van a new entry-level engine for the 2020 model year in the UK.

The Doblo can now be ordered with a new 1.3-liter MultiJet turbo diesel rated at 80 PS (79 HP). It’s a de-tuned version of the existing 1.3 MultiJet 95 PS (94 HP), which is still availale. The range also includes the 1.6 MultiJet diesel available in two states of tune, with 105 PS (103 HP) and 120 PS (118 HP) respectively.

The new engine allows Fiat Professional to lower the price of the Doblo to £15,995 (approximately $19,000 at today’s exchange rates), excluding VAT. No other details about the new engine were offered.

In the UK, the 2020MY Doblo is offered in four trim levels – Standard, SX, Tecnico and Sportivo. The Standard specification comes with the new Eco pack which adds Stop&Start, a smart alternator and an electronically-controlled fuel pump. The Eco pack’s purpose is to save energy and ensure higher combustion efficiency.

The SX grade gets a near-side sliding door, body-colored door mirrors, and driver height-adjustable seat, while the Tecnico trim brings air conditioning, cruise control, satellite navigation, and reversing sensors, while the top-of-the-line Sportivo is available exclusively in black metallic with 16-inch alloys and folding electric door mirrors with heating function.

As before, customers have a choice of several different versions, including Cargo, Maxi Cargo, Cargo XL, Passenger, Maxi Passenger, XL Passenger, Crew Van, Work up and Maxi Platform. Fiat says it offers a best-in-class load area of up to 5.4 cubic meters (190.7 cu ft) as well as a class-leading payload of up to 1 ton (2,240 lbs).
