The Bentayga Speed, Cayenne Turbo, and Mercedes-AMG G63 are three of the fastest SUVs on the planet – and CarWow recently put them together for a series of performance tests.
Perhaps the first thing you’ll notice is that there’s also a Suzuki Jimny included in the various tests. Of course, the Jimny is no match for the other three and, according to the presenter, was only added to the line-up because the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk that was supposed to be the fourth car encountered some issues before the tests could commence. Plus, we guess, the journos wanted to make a tongue-in-cheek joke…

First off, the four SUVs went head-to-head in a drag race. The Bentley is publicized as the world’s fastest SUV and, fittingly, it accelerated down the quarter-mile the quickest, setting a storming time of 11.5-seconds. In second place was the Porsche, with 11.7 seconds, while the Merc wasn’t too far behind at 12.3 seconds. Just for the record, the Jimny needed 18.4.
For the second test, the SUVs competed in a rolling race and once again, the Bentley comes out on top, thanks in part to how rapidly the gearbox changes down gears when its throttle is pinned to the carpet. The final test revealed which of the SUV’s brakes the fastest – but we won’t spoil that one, if you don’t mind…
While the Bentley won the acceleration tests, though, it may not remain the king of luxury SUVs for long. Porsche is currently developing a new Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid which will have about 670 HP, giving it a power edge over even the Lamborghini Urus and Bentayga Speed. And then, of course, there’s the upcoming Ferrari Purosangue, a (rumored) even hotter version of the Urus and so on and so fort. Something tells us this battle is just beginning.
