The Audi RS6 Avant has long been one of the ultimate high-performance estate cars and the new one does not stray from the recipe one bit. Does it sound as good as its predecessor, however?
Noise regulations across Europe are attempting to reign in the engine and exhaust notes produced by new models, and in this video from DPC Cars that includes nothing but four minutes of the new RS6’s soundtrack, it appears as though the super estate might just be the latest victim in this crackdown.

By no means does the new Audi RS6 sound bad. In fact, it sounds great, even though we’re not sure how authentic the sound captured in this video really is. However, for a turbocharged V8, it is relatively muted, and while there are some pops and burbles from the exhaust, they don’t seem as loud as the old car. We have no doubt that aftermarket exhaust manufacturers will have an absolute field day thanks to that.
Audi’s 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 now features 48-volt mild-hybrid technology and delivers 591 HP and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. Ingolstadt says it will sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) in a blistering 3.6 seconds and continue through to an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
What’s particularly exciting about the new RS6 Avant is that it will also be sold in the United States, despite estates having fallen out of favor with customers. But, as you’ve probably guessed by now, this is no ordinary estate…
