While the Ranger Raptor is sold in various markets around the world, the United States is not one of them. Fortunately, the country is home to numerous tuning companies with expertise in turning Ford’s pickup into something much more capable compared to how it originally left the production line.

Hennessey Performanceb is one of them, and has given U.S. consumers who want a Ranger Raptor but can’t get one from a dealership, a solution with its Velociraptor.

Powering Hennessey’s Ranger is a 2.3-liter turbocharged EcoBoost four that produces a healthy 360 HP at 5600 rpm and 440 lb-ft (597 Nm) of torque at 3800 rpm. That’s a lot of power, particularly when you consider that the factory Ranger Raptor uses a twin-turbo 2.0-liter diesel four with a mere 210 HP and 368 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque.

The added power means the Velociraptor can accelerate to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 4.9 seconds and run the quarter-mile in 13.9-seconds at 101 mph (163 km/h). Hennessey has also worked extensively on the pickup truck’s suspension to ensure it is much more capable off-road than the stock item.

There are Icon shocks which bump up the ride height by 4-inches (102 mm), BFGoodrich all-terrain tires and, as The Smoking Tire’s Matt Farah, who recently had the chance to check it out, says, drives very much like you would expect a ‘Raptor’ branded Ranger to drive.

The Velociraptor isn’t cheap, though. Hennessey will sell you one for $64,950 – but if you’d rather supply a donor car yourself, the upgrade will cost you $19,995 plus shipping.
