The tuner minds over at Hennessey were invited by Ford at their headquarters to check out a pre-production version of the all-new Mustang Shelby GT500.
They filmed their first encounter with the insanely powerful muscle car and posted it online for everyone to see, stating that they cannot wait to get their hands on it. Naturally, the crew hasn’t divulged anything about the upcoming project, but it’s nevertheless underway, as “the gears are already turning”.

Now, to be honest, you won’t need any mods in order to smoke many supercars in a straight line acceleration with the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500, as it can do the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint in around 3.5 seconds. It’s also a proper drag racing tool, with the quarter mile said to take under 11 seconds, while it can go from 0 to 100 mph (0-161 km/h) and then back to 0 again in just 10.6 seconds, so it’s surprisingly fast for a car that tips the scales at 4,225 lbs (1,916 kg).
The performance comes courtesy of many new and upgraded parts, including of course, the icing on the cake, a 5.2-liter, supercharged V8, connected to a Tremec 7-speed DCT. In stock form, the engine pushes out an impressive 760 horsepower (771 PS / 567 kW) and 625 pound-feet (847 Nm) of torque.
Compared to other high-end machines built for speed, the new GT500 won’t break the bank, as it has a reported starting price of just a little under $74,000, destination charges included.
