The current F-150 Raptor is better than the previous-generation model in virtually every single way, but the lack of a V8 under the hood has disappointed some customers. Hennessey Performance has a solution – and then some.
For a number of years now, the Texas tuning company has been selling engine swap packages which see the pickup’s standard 3.5-liter, twin-turbo V6 replaced by a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 pumping out a stunning 758 HP at 7000 rpm. This translates to approximately 570 hp at the rear wheels.
Keen to show just how capable its modified Raptor is in a straight-line, Hennessey lined it up against a stock Chevrolet Camaro SS for a drag race.

The all-wheel drive system of the VelociRaptor allows it to accelerate slightly faster off the line than the Chevy. However, the lighter overall weight of the Camaro means it is able to overtake the big Ford as the two approach the end of the quarter-mile.
Hennessey officially claims its VelociRaptor can sprint to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 4.1 seconds, and we have absolutely no reason to doubt that. It can also sprint down the quarter-mile in 12.2 seconds at 115 mph (185 km/h) and also happens to produce an engine note much more intoxicating that the twin-turbo V6 of the standard model.
Buying a fully modified VelociRaptor V8 from Hennessey Performance will set you back $147,950. Not cheap, but that’s the price you pay for exclusivity and performance.
