At the the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, Hispano Suiza Cars presented the Carmen, a retro-styled coupe with modern technology.
The Carmen recently celebrated its dynamic debut on the streets of Barcelona. Wowing bystanders wherever it went, the car was set loose over the course of two days, for filming purposes, during which the automaker immortalized it and shared some of the material on social media. We got our hands on one video and several images, taken in different parts of the Spanish city, which you can view in the video and gallery right below.
While the exterior may look all retro-ish, on the inside it features some modern tech, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen display with smartphone connectivity, wireless charging pad for compatible devices and ambient lighting. Elsewhere, the interior blends some colorful materials in an overall design that’s not to everyone’s taste, especially at this price range. Speaking of which, the Carmen costs $1.7 million (€1.5 million) and is limited to 19 units, with deliveries kicking off next summer.
In return for paying the eye-watering sum, you’ll get a very powerful electric car with two motors pushing 1,005 HP (1,019 PS / 750 kW) to the rear wheels. From nought to 62 mph (0-100 km/h), Hispano Suiza’s EV is as quick as some modern supercars, needing less than 3 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph (250 km/h). Responsible for powering the motors is an 80 kWh battery pack, with a rumored 105 kWh unit said to be available at launch.
