Hot on the heels of the successful i10 Play and i20 Play special editions, Hyundai has given the same treatment to the Kona subcompact crossover in the UK.
As with the other Play models, the Kona Play follows the same philosophy of combining high equipment levels with a low price. Available to order with immediate effect for £18,355 (approximately $22,315), the Kona Play adds several features on top of those of the SE trim it’s based on.
Specific equipment includes 18-inch alloys, privacy glass, and metallic or pearl paint at no extra cost. These features add to the Kona SE’s standard spec sheet that consists of a 7-inch touchscreen DAB radio with subscription free Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, rear parking sensors with rear-view camera, cruise control with speed limiter, air conditioning, as well as leather wrapped steering wheel and gear lever.

That’s not all, as the Kona Play also features standard safety tech such as Lane Keep Assist, Driver Attention Alert, Hill Start Assist and Downhill Brake Control. Unlike many new cars nowadays, a space saver spare wheel is also standard.
Customizing options consist of seven available colors, with no additional charge for metallic or pearl paint finishes. The color palette includes Acid Yellow, Blue Lagoon, Chalk White, Lake Silver, Phantom Black, Pulse Red, and Tangerine Comet.
The Kona Play gets a single powertrain choice, the 1.0-liter T-GDi three-cylinder rated at 120 PS (118 hp) at 6,000 rpm and 172 Nm (127 lb-ft) of torque at 1,500 – 4,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission that drives the front wheels.
