Icon Wants $265,000 For This One-Off 1970 Chevrolet K5 Blazer Restomod

Chevrolet K5 Blazer restomods have become a thing in recent years with the success of similar Ford Bronco projects.

It’s not unusual to see K5 Blazer builds exceed $200,000 at auctions or private sales and this 1970 example makes no exception.

Built in 2015 by California-based Icon under its Reformer brand, this particular vehicle is a unique custom K5 Blazer that has only covered 1,200 miles (1,931 kilometers) since completion. According to Icon, the reason for that is the owner was afraid to drive it because it was “too perfect.”

The list of custom modifications made to this off-roader is too long to cover in detail so we’ll focus on the highlights. It’s got a Corvette heart, more specifically a 6.2-liter LS3 aluminum V8 engine rated at 430 hp and 424 lb-ft (575 Nm) of torque. Mated to the strong four-speed 4L85E automatic transmission, the power plant drives all four wheels via an Atlas II part-time 4×4 transfer case.

The vehicle’s off-road capability is enhanced by the custom suspension with Atlas leaf springs, Currie sway bars, and Fox Racing shocks and rebounds, as well as the American Racing black Teflon ATX 17-inch wheels shod with BF Goodrich 315/70/17 All Terrain tires. The off-roader also features custom built Dynatrack Dana 60 axles, four-wheel-disc-brakes, and hydroboost assist power steering.

Leaving the hardware part behind, the unique Chevrolet K5 Blazer features an overhauled interior with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and armrests, custom seats upholstered in Italian leather, LED lighting, restored stock in-dash radio, wool floor mats, and much more.

The vehicle can be yours for $265,000 and Icon says that’s a good deal because the custom K5 cannot be duplicated at this price and the company will not build another one like it anyway.
