Volkswagen of America recently announced the Golf Alltrack and Golf SportWagen were going away for 2020, but now the company has revealed the rest of the changes for the upcoming model year.
Starting with the Atlas, all trims now feature a next-generation Car-Net telematics system and Wi-Fi connectivity. Additional changes are limited, but the Atlas SE w/ Technology R-Line gains an easy open liftgate and front / rear park distance control. Furthermore, SE w/ Technology and above models gain standard 20-inch alloy wheels while the SEL Premium boasts 21-inch wheels.
The Arteon is a relatively new addition to the lineup, but it receives Wi-Fi connectivity and a next-generation Car-Net telematics system. The mid-level SEL also gains 19-inch alloy wheels, while the SEL Premium now comes equipped with 20-inch wheels and R-Line content.
With a brand new Golf right around the corner, the US will only receive one trim called the Golf Value Edition. It comes nicely equipped with heated front seats, leatherette upholstery and a panoramic sunroof. The car also has 16-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry and a push button ignition. There’s also a new Car-Net telematics system and Wi-Fi connectivity.
The e-Golf largely carries over, but it now comes standard with the previously optional Driver Assistance Package. It includes adaptive cruise control, a blind spot monitor, rear traffic alert and front assist.
The changes to the 2020 Golf GTI are more extensive as the range-topping SE variant can now be equipped with an optional Autobahn Package. It adds a dual-zone automatic climate control system, a Fender premium audio system and a Discover Media infotainment system with GPS navigation. The package also includes adaptive cruise control, lane assist and light assist.
Buyers will smaller budgets can opt for the entry-level Golf GTI S. It features additional equipment including a new Car-Net system and Wi-Fi connectivity. The model also has newly standard driver assistance systems such as a blind spot monitor, front assist and rear traffic alert.
Likewise, the 2020 Jetta gains a new Car-Net telematics system and Wi-Fi connectivity. The Jetta SEL and SEL Premium now come equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, a wireless smartphone charger and a Cold Weather Package that includes a heated steering wheel, heated seats and a remote starter – among other things.
The Jetta GLI also gains Wi-Fi and a new Car-Net telematics system, but the higher end Autobahn variant now comes equipped with adaptive damping and a wireless smartphone charger.
The 2020 Tiguan gains additional standard equipment as all trims now have front assist, side assist and rear traffic alert. The crossover also features a next-generation Car-Net telematics system and Wi-Fi connectivity.
Other updates include a newly optional wireless smartphone charger and an updated Tiguan SEL that now features a heated steering wheel, rain-sensing wipers and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Likewise, the Tiguan SEL Premium R-Line gains 20-inch wheels.
There’s also a new Tiguan SE R-Line Black which has black-accented R-Line bumpers, a panoramic sunroof and 20-inch wheels with a black finish. The model also has fog lights, front / rear parking sensors and a black headliner.

Lastly, the 2020 Passat has been extensively updated as it features revised styling inside and out. It’s powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 174 hp (130 kW / 176 PS) and 207 lb-ft (281 Nm) of torque.
