While the Mercedes-Benz X-Class is about as plush as a mid-size pickup truck can get, it’s not particularly exciting, especially compared with the off-road focused concept that Mercedes unveiled in late 2016.
That X-Class, painted in a shade of matte yellow and outfitted with numerous off-road focused parts, got the world worked up about what the production vehicle would look like. Unfortunately, it was not up to the level of this concept, fittingly dubbed the Powerful Adventurer. This one from Pickup Design shows us how a road-going version of that concept could have looked like from the factory.
We’ve featured the tuning company’s customized X-Class models in the past and there’s a good reason for that: they look epic and this particular example pictured during a recent mountain biking trip in Georgia, is the X-Class so many of us dreamed of.
The first thing which catches your eye with this X-Class is the bold bodykit that includes flared wheel arches, LED light bars on the roof, a custom (and expensive) roof rack, and a generous suspension lift kit. A matte green wrap and off-road wheels and tires round off the looks perfectly.
Will Mercedes-Benz ever release an X-Class quite as bold as this one? Fat chance – and a shame, because, apparently, the world loves its bad-looking pickup trucks.
