Superformance is giving you the opportunity to purchase an exact copy of the Ford GT40 that won the 1969 Le Mans, after getting “full access” to the original race car.
The works Gulf Ford GT40 P/1075 is one of the most iconic race cars in the history of motorsport and now Superformance teams up with Safir GT40 and Gulf in order to create a short run of “toolroom copies” and tribute editions of the car.
Each of these exact replicas and tribute editions will come complete with a GT40 P/1000 Series chassis number, a plaque with the names of 25 employees that were key to the original’s success and a limited edition Gulf GT40 guitar. Only 50 of them will be ever made.

The tribute editions will feature the wide body and wheels and the iconic Gulf livery, making them virtually indistinguishable from the real thing on the outside. Customers will get to choose between Roush-built Ford V8 engines, ranging from 5.0 liters (302ci) to 7.0 liters (427ci), and the option of Quaife RFQ or ZF RBT transaxle. They will be fully road legal, with the official UK importer Le Mans Coupes Ltd announcing that prices start from £185,000 ($225,000 in current exchange rates).
The “toolroom copies” will perfectly replicate the actual Le Mans winner both aesthetically and mechanically. Customers will be able to spec them for general track use or make them FIA-approved to compete in historic racing. Prices here start from £280,000 ($340,000 in current exchange rates).
Superformance also offers FIA-eligible copies of the pre-’66 Ford GT40 MKI race car, with prices starting from £250,000 ($304,000 in current exchange rates).
“Only one person can own the original and that’s unlikely to come to market anytime soon, and will be way beyond the pocket of 99.9 percent of enthusiasts if and when it does,” said Oliver Hulme, Le Mans Coupes Ltd’s Managing Director. “Under the circumstances these limited- edition Superformance recreations have to be a serious consideration and amazing value for money.”
