Prices for the highly acclaimed Acura Integra Type R have been steadily skyrocketing over the last few years, with one example recently changing hands for $82 grand!
The one-owner 1997 Integra Type R was listed on Bring A Trailer showing 6,190 miles on the odometer and presented in almost-new condition, driving bids into levels that we haven’t seen before.
Granted, this is a rather rare car in the US, as only 320 made it to the market that year (a total of 3,800 cars were sold during its four-year stint), and fans are apparently ready to shell out big money for a mint, low-mileage example like this.

Finished in Championship White over black microsuede and fabric seats, this Integra Type R looks pretty much perfect, aside from a small scratch on the rear bumper. All the correct Type R graphics are present, the lenses are crystal clear and the factory 15-inch while alloy wheels are shod in Bridgestone tires from 2004 – which, even though have been used for just 1,000 miles, need to be replaced simply due to their age.
Power is provided by a naturally-aspirated 1.8-liter four-cylinder than revs up to 8,400 rpm and makes 195 HP and 130 lb-ft of torque that’s paired to a close-ratio, five-speed manual transmission. The powertrain was serviced with a new timing belt, water pump, tensioner and drive belts last July, together with a clutch adjustment and an oil change.
The DC2 Integra Type R has left its mark on the motoring world as one of the best front-wheel drive performance cars ever built and comes with a stiffer body shell, a limited-slip differential, model-specific suspension and brakes.
The Japanese modern classic has been riding a pretty steep appreciation curve lately, and whether this is an one-off or not remains to be seen. Last June, a 27k-mile example fetched $65,500 on the same platform. Now that we’ve crossed the $80k mark, is it possible that we’ll see one sell for a five-figure sum in the near future?
