Minivans have long ago been replaced by SUVs as the average American household’s sweetheart, but if you want car-like handling, room for the entire family and tons of interior space, then you cannot go wrong with the Honda Odyssey.
Part of KelleyBlueBook’s daily routine for one year, Honda’s 2018MY people carrier proved to be a trusty companion. The eight-seater was quiet, refined, comfortable and rather fun to drive overall, with good steering feedback and a selection of safety systems that made them feel well protected.

Resale value is another chapter aced by the 2018 Odyssey. The actual cost of the vehicle was $47,610, but this is the range-topping Elite, which is nicely specced with features such as leather trim, heated and ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, premium sound system, multi-zone audio and many others. The lineup also includes the lesser Touring, EX-L, EX and LX, with the latter being available at $30,690.
Over the course of the 12 months spent in KBB’s garage, the minivan drove 17,972 miles (28,923 km). On average, it returned 22.77 mpg (10.3 l/100 km), which was very close to the combined EPA estimate of 22 mpg (10.7 l/100 km).
As good as it may sound so far, it wasn’t a flawless journey. In fact, the Odyssey had to pay a couple of visits to the dealership due to a few issues, but it didn’t cost the owner anything, as they were covered by the warranty.
There was also a recall announced during this time due to improperly closing side doors that could’ve opened while on the move, but you can find out more about this, and other things they experienced during their long stay with the MPV, by watching the following video.
