Due to the oversized grille adopted by the facelifted BMW 7-Series, the latest Alpina B7 has stirred some controversy online. However, once you see it in the flesh at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, it kinda grows on you.
Sporting the brand’s familiar Alpina Blue Metallic, an exclusive color offered by the tuner alongside Green Metallic, which in our humble opinion looks better, the new B7 has an elegant presence. It features reworked bumpers, custom rear spoiler, quad elliptical tailpipes, special wheels and ‘Alpina’ lettering.

The interior boasts appealing touches from Alpina with leather and contrast stitching, ceramic inserts and multi-functional front seats. Elsewhere, the flagship sedan, which has its eyes set on the Mercedes-AMG S63, comes with full-color head-up display, wood or piano black trim, ambient lighting and plenty of optional extras. Users will also notice the improved soundproofing thanks to the thicker windows.
For the 2020 B7, the icing on the cake is the 4.4-liter, twin-turbo V8, tuned to deliver 608 PS (599 hp / 447 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. Paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission with updated software that channels output to the xDrive all-wheel drive system, it allows the saloon to rocket to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.7 seconds and up to a maximum speed of 330 km/h (205 mph). That’s true supercar performance in a vehicle that excels in luxury and comfort, being suitable for a business meeting, weekend getaway or intercontinental cruising.
