Before officially unveiling the new RS6 Avant, Audi invited a number of journos to check it out from up close.
They haven’t allowed anyone outside the company to drive it yet, though, so all anyone can talk about is the design, interior upgrades, extra gear and powerful engine.
The following video, however, won’t bore you with any details, as it presents the high-performance executive wagon in an artistic manner; a great way of putting yet another spotlight on the car before the first reviews start coming in.

The super estate’s magnificent growl is highlighted for a few seconds as the 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 is fired up. Coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission that directs the output to the Quattro all-wheel drive system, it kicks out 600 PS (592 hp / 441 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque.
According to the spec sheet, it will hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in an astounding 3.6 seconds and, if you remove the electronic limiter, it’s certain that it will go much faster than its current 250 km/h (155 mph) top speed.
Grunt and menacing look aside, the 2020 RS6 Avant should be a calm cruiser on the highway thanks to its adaptive air suspension and extensive sound deadening. We’ll find out more about how it drives after its media launch. As for the general public, they’ll have the chance to check it out from up close at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show that kicks off in a few days.
