The Chevrolet Bolt EV has just received a healthy range increase for the 2020 model year but it looks like more good stuff is on the way.
GM’s only EV on sale in North America has generally received positive reviews but one area where the Bolt EV could improve is the interior. The cabin has been described by many as having low-quality materials, hard, uncomfortable seats, and a general sub-par build quality. Thankfully, that is about to change.
GM Authority reports that the Bolt EV will get an overhauled interior for the 2021 model year. The website cites unnamed sources claiming that the electric vehicle will get better seats along with several other updates.
According to the report, the changes will likely be made for the 2021 model year coinciding with the Bolt EV’s mid-cycle refresh. Around the same time, Chevrolet also plans to introduce the Bolt EUV in North America. Since both models share the same platform, battery pack, and drivetrain, it’s only natural for the Bolt EV to gain many updates from its newer crossover sibling.
Together with the improved driving range of 259 miles (417 km), the interior updates will allow the Chevrolet Bolt EV to better compete with rivals such as the Kia Niro EV and Hyundai Kona Electric. If you’re willing to wait for the improved interior, you should know that the facelifted 2021 Chevrolet Bolt EV is expected to debut in fall 2020.

If not, the 2020 model will arrive at dealerships later this year with a base price of $37,495 (including destination). That’s the same price as its predecessor.
