Attendees at a Cars & Coffee Yorktown event in New York are getting a lot of flak online after a recent meetup saw them blocking a Tesla Supercharger station.
The event, held early Sunday morning, saw a fleet of performance cars parked in front of the Supercharging spots. Among the cars visible are a red Chevrolet Camaro, an Audi RS7, a handful of Ford Mustangs and a BMW 3-Series.

Some in the Tesla community believe that this was a deliberate, planned ICE-ing event – but that wasn’t the case. The Cars & Coffee Yorktown event has been held at this location for quite some time and, prior to the event, organizers told those attending to ensure the Tesla Superchargers were left free. It’s likely that the owners who did park their cars in front of the chargers simply had no other space available and failed to think of the needs of local Tesla owners.
Taking to Facebook, organizers of the event said they are addressing the issue. Responding to one comment from a Tesla owner claiming the 59,000 members of a Tesla owners club page on Facebook are talking about the incident, they reiterated that it was not intentional.
“We will be sure to get the message out even louder to have Tesla Charging spots available, I assure you it’s not intentional on our part. We have been contacted by many people most likely spurred on by the group you speak of and most are nowhere near NY. Regardless… we will do our best to assure there are spots available for Tesla’s. [sic]”
Unbelievable that dozens of people can show up together and think it’s a good idea to mass block an entire charging station. Photo Via @TeslaReporter on fb. #Tesla #LikeTesla #ModelS #ModelX #Model3 pic.twitter.com/mQBZWJBEmH
