Genovation, the company behind the all-electric Corvette-based GXE, has set a new top speed record with their upcoming sports car.
With deliveries set to begin soon, the team headed to the Kennedy Space Center’s Shuttle Landing facility and set the GXE loose to see what kind of speeds it could achieve. The electric sports car eventually topped out at 210.2 mph (338.28 km/h), just beating out the car’s previous record of 209 mph (336 km/h). Genovation says this impressive speed was clocked despite huge crosswinds.

From the outside, the GXE looks like most other Corvettes but it actually features a 60 kWh battery, inverters, and twin electric motors that deliver a combined output of 800 hp (597 kW / 811 PS) and more than 700 lb-ft (949 Nm) of torque. What’s particularly interesting about the GXE is that it is available with a seven-speed manual transmission, which is something you don’t typically see in an electric vehicle. Customers also have the option of an eight-speed automatic, should they prefer something a little easier to operate.
It’s not easy to build an electric car around an ICE platform, but the 60 kWh battery pack allows the GXE to travel 175 miles (281 km) on a single charge.
Genovation intends to begin deliveries later this year and production will be limited to just 75 units.
