Next month, the first reviews of the 2020 Corvette Stingray will start coming in, and as we eagerly wait to see what the verdict on the new car is, Road & Track editor Zach Bowman has shared this short video on Instagram.

With big power and rear-wheel drive, it should come as no surprise to anyone that the mid-engined ‘Vette is more than capable of performing some pretty impressive donuts. What will be interesting to hear when the first reviews are out is just balanced the car is at the limits of grip and how well sorted out its chassis is.

Chevrolet has happily acknowledged that it had reached the potential of front-engined platforms with the C7 Corvette and simply had to switch to a mid-engined design for the C8. This may have upset some traditionalists, but for the most part, it seems the ‘Vette faithful are big fans of the new car, not in small part thanks to its affordable starting price.

Entry-level 2020 Corvette Stingray models are powered by a naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V8 that ordinarily delivers 490 HP and 495 with the available performance exhaust and Z51 Performance Package. Those are decent figures for a V8 with no electrification or forced induction, although we’re sure that as soon as customer deliveries commence, tuning shops will start tweaking the powertrain in search of more power.

In just a couple of days, namely October 2, the C8 Corvette family will grow with the unveiling of the Convertible version.
