A 27-year-old woman in South Africa has been arrested after trying to avoid a ticket in the Gauteng province of South Africa.
The Times reports that a local police officer tried to fine the driver in the mining town of Krugersdorp for using her mobile phone at the wheel. Evidently, the woman didn’t want to accept the fine and decided to drive off as the police officer clung to the hood of her Audi. Footage captured the scary scene where the officer can be heard shouting “Please can you turn off the car? Stop the car!”
The woman’s attempted escape didn’t last long as a police van soon pulled up alongside her and blocked her in. She was soon arrested and charged with failing to comply with a traffic officer, reckless driving, and resisting arrest.

“The conduct displayed by the driver is not only reckless but also smacks of arrogance,” Gauteng province traffic department spokesman Ofentse Morwana said of the incident.
South Africa and the Gauteng province, which includes Johannesburg and Pretoria, has one of the highest numbers of fatal car accidents per year. The Times reports that in excess of 14,000 people are killed on the nation’s roads every year. This accounts for 25 in 100,000 deaths.
It doesn’t appear as though the police officer in question suffered any injuries after the impromptu trip on the hood of an Audi.
