The wild Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain 4×4² is probably the off-road-oriented Mercedes car that you’re most familiar with but it’s not the only car with a Three-Pointed Star badge designed to show SUVs and dedicated off-roaders a thing or two.
What you’re looking at is a W140-generation Mercedes-Benz S500 currently for sale in Russia that has been built to deal with anything the harsh Russian climate can throw at it. It’s currently for sale for the equivalent of $77,621.

If our Russian to English translation is correct, the owner of this S500 completed the wild project back in 2012 and since then, the car has received a number of local awards. Limited details are available about what exactly is going on under the S-Class body but it doesn’t appear as though the owner simply took the chassis of an existing off-roader and mounted the S-Class shell to it. Instead, it looks like the standard S-Class chassis has been retained but a series of off-road-focused parts have been fitted.
Videos of the car show that it is very capable when taken off the beaten path and can deal with slippery mud quite well. We’ve got no doubt the E-Class All-Terrain 4×4², complete with its portal axles, could deal with more difficult terrain but we don’t think it would turn as many heads as this car.
The listing reveals that powering the vehicle is a 5.0-liter engine delivering 320 hp and that the car has 10,000 km (6200 miles) under its belt.
