Ah, the good ‘ole Top Gear. You weren’t perfect, you know; in fact, sometimes you were a bit obnoxious, but boy do we miss you.

Make no mistake, we think the current show is great fun to watch, and the same can be said about The Grand Tour headed by The Trio Formerly Known As TG Hosts, namely Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond.

However, we don’t think either has, so far, managed to equal, let alone surpass, the Top Gear many of us came to know and love during the mid-2000s.

Arguably one of the show’s most memorable tests came during Season 12, when James May was handed the keys to both a Bugatti Veyron and a Pagani Zonda F Roadster on the Dunsfold Aerodrome. The Veyron had been featured at the show in the past, but this was the very first time the hypercar hit their very own track.

The test started out with May jumping into the driver’s seat of the Zonda F Roadster which, at the time, was the fastest and most ridiculous Pagani ever. He was understandably flabbergasted by it, but things became all the more exciting when, in the distance, an all-white Veyron came into view. It really is an iconic moment in the history of Top Gear.

The duo proceeded to lap the test track with The Stig at the helm and, despite the Veyron’s credentials, it was the Pagani that posted the fastest lap.

It has been almost 11 years since this episode first aired, and yet it never seems to get old. Are there any famous segments from Top Gear that you particularly love to re-watch? Let us know in the comments right below!
