The Frankfurt Motor Show is upon us and the event kicks into high gear shortly as Volkswagen is hosting its massive Group Night at 7:45 PM CEST (1:45 EST).
The event kicks off soon and will undoubtedly star the Volkswagen ID.3.
Volkswagen has been teasing the ID.3 for months and the company has already received more than 30,000 reservations for the electric hatchback. Most of the pre-orders have come from EV-friendly countries such as Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

Volkswagen has a lot riding on the ID.3 as it will usher in a “new era” of electric vehicles. The company isn’t kidding about that sentiment either as a total of 33 different models will be based on the MEB platform in the next three years alone. They’ll be spread across various Volkswagen Group brands and include previously announced models previewed by the ID Buzz, ID Crozz and ID Vizzion concepts.
Full specifications will be announced later today, but the ID.3 will have a base price of less than €30,000 in Germany. The entry-level model will have a range of approximately 205 miles (330 km) of range, while the ID.3 First Edition will be able to travel 261 miles (420 km) on a single charge.
Besides the ID.3, we wouldn’t be surprised if a handful of other models make an appearance at the special event. There’s no word on specifics, but the company has already unveiled the Audi RS6 Avant, Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+, Porsche Taycan and Lamborghini Sián. The company could also show the AI:Trail Quattro and Cupra Tavascan concepts as well as previously announced models such as the Audi RS7 Sportback.
