The McLaren P1 GTR is one of the most ludicrous cars ever designed and YouTube MrJWW recently had the opportunity to drive one on the street. Yes, the street.
You see, whereas McLaren designed the P1 GTR as a track-only special, British company Lanzante Motorsport received the go-ahead from the automaker to develop kits that turn the car into a road-legal weapon with number plates. This particular P1 GTR has undergone such modifications and shows the Senna a thing or two about how a car laden with eye-catching aerodynamics parts can still look stunning.

Production of the McLaren P1 GTR was capped at just 58 units and only a dozen or so are thought to have been converted into road cars. Among the changes made to the street-legal examples is a bespoke exhaust system and some interior additions although it’s hard to find a list detailing every little modification Lanzante made.
What hasn’t changed between the track-only P1 GTR and road-going examples is the use of a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged hybrid V8 producing no less than 986 hp. That’s good enough for a 0-60 mph (96 km/h) time of 2.4 seconds and a 225 mph (362 km/h) top speed despite that towering rear wing.
MrJWW had the opportunity to drive the car on the Autobahn and was able to get a taste of what driving a P1 GTR on the street is like. Perhaps the most remarkable thing about the car is just how loud it is due to the lack of any sound deadening.
