Brabham BT62 Competition Spec Detailed, Costs £750,000 Without Tax

Brabham has confirmed the official pricing and details of the new BT62 Competition spec, which will be used for the brand’s endurance racing debut at Brands Hatch, on November 9-10.

Offered alongside the Road Compliant Conversion and Ultimate Track Car, the BT62 Competition starts at £750,000 ($964,231/€868,737) in the UK, without tax, and is a stripped back variant prepped for racing.

It’s delivered without the Initial Spares Pack and passenger seat (although these can be ordered as separate options) and retains the lightweight carbon-chromoly safety cell with integrated roll cage. The advanced aerodynamics give it 1,200 kg (2,646 lbs) of downforce, while other features include the carbon-on-carbon brakes, motorsport ABS and traction control.

Wearing the Celebration bespoke wrap, which joins the Signature livery, the BT62 Competition can be had in left- or right-hand drive and also carries a pneumatic jacking system, center-locking wheels, race-ready gauge display and removable multi-function steering wheel. It packs a 5.4-liter, naturally aspirated V8 engine that produces 700 horsepower (710 PS / 522 kW) and 492 pound-feet (667 Nm) of torque – numbers that are identical in all versions of the hypercar, regardless if they’re road-legal or not.

The small automaker quoted Jason Plato, who put the BT62 to the test for the Fifth Gear TV show, saying: “This is driving in its absolute purest form, which is not surprising given the family heritage behind this amazing creation… it’s a very serious car, but it’s very user-friendly and confidence inspiring. It’s epic, actually.”
