The brand new Ferrari F8 Spider was recently shown to prospective buyers in the UK at the flagship HR Owen Ferrari dealership in London last week, roughly a month after being unveiled in Italy. If you had any lingering doubts about what the F8 Spider would look like in the flesh, this video confirms that it looks superb.

Power for the the open-top version of the F8 is provided by the same twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 engine as the coupe, aka the F8 Tributo. It delivers a potent 711 HP and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm), which is enough to accelerate the car to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.9 seconds, 124 mph (200 km/h) in 8.2 seconds, and on to a 211 mph (340 km/h) top speed.

This clip shows the F8 Spider’s folding roof mechanism, which takes just 14 seconds to deploy or retract and works at speeds of up to 27.9 mph (45 km/h), in action. With the roof down, the Italian supercar is extremely striking thanks to the presence of those eye-catching buttresses behind both the seats.

In September, select members of the motoring press had the opportunity to sample the hardtop F8 Tributo and, for the most part, were extremely impressed with what they found out. We suspect that the Spider will be just as good to drive, or maybe even better thanks to the lack of a fixed roof, allowing drivers to really enjoy the tone of that V8 that sits (and sings) practically right behind their heads.
