Almost exactly 13 years ago, Porsche released the 997-generation 911 GT3 RS and the two most popular colors for the track-focused sports car were bright shades of green and orange. This recently-delivered 991.2-generation 911 GT3 RS pays homage to the 997.

These images, shared by APM Customs, show the owner of this GT3 RS ordered it in the same shade of Pure Orange as the 997 model. Even the ‘GT3 RS’ graphics on the sides have been carried through to the new car, making for one of the best-looking 991.2 models that we’ve come across.

It’s not just the orange paint and black graphics that make the car stand out as the car also features the available Weissach package. This means it includes a carbon fiber hood, carbon fiber roof, carbon fiber rear wing, black magnesium wheels, carbon ceramic brakes, and a roll cage. Adding to the eye-catching looks of the car are gloss black wing mirrors and door handles.

Porsche is hard at work developing GT3 and GT3 RS versions of the new 992-generation car and if the history of the ‘GT3’ family has taught us anything, it’s that the new car should be even better than its predecessor.

Powering the current 911 GT3 RS is a screaming 4.0-liter naturally-aspirated six-cylinder engine churning out 512 hp through a PDK transmission to the rear wheels. That may not sound like all that much in an industry where supercars easily pump out more than 700 hp but the RS is actually quicker around the Nurburgring than the all-wheel drive and 887 hp Porsche 918 Spyder.
