If you’ve ever wondered what can go wrong when a powerful car is being taken to its limits on a dyno, look no further than this video.

It’s a well-established fact that the Challenger SRT Hellcat is one of the most powerful and animalistic cars on the planet and while Dodge fans would probably love to claim it was simply too powerful for this dyno, it appears that faulty equipment is to blame.

As the Hellcat was being put through its paces during a power run, one of the cables affixed to the rear of the car snaps in half. This briefly sends the Hellcat forward and to the side on the rollers, seemingly engaging the brakes that quickly catch fire after spitting sparks and glowing red. Fortunately, workers from the shop were quick enough to react and put out the flames with a fire extinguisher.

It remains to be seen if any significant damage was done to the Hellcat although we’d be surprised if it will require any repairs.

The internet is littered with videos showing what can go wrong with cars strapped to dynos and to keep you entertained, we have added a dyno fail compilation video down below. This video shows that what this Hellcat experienced was pretty tame compared to a particularly infamous incident that happened back in 2010 as a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution was being put to the test on a dyno in Puerto Rico. It ended up falling off the elevated platform and likely suffered some bad damage.
