Last month, Subaru sent out a teaser image depicting a darkened rear 3/4 angle of the all-new 2020 Levorg wagon. Immediately we could tell that the car features pronounced haunches, a large roof spoiler and horizontally-placed taillights with fresh new graphics.
The Japanese automaker is expected to unveil the 2020 Levorg at the Tokyo Motor Show on October 23, albeit in pre-production form. However, the styling should be more or less final, considering how this is not a concept but a near production-ready prototype.
Now, thanks to Carscoops reader Sean S. who shared this image from Japanese Web Car magazine, we can now see the new Levorg in all of its glory – a clear front 3/4 shot that reveals a considerably more angular design, compared to the current model.

By the way, if the design feels somewhat familiar (and not only because it’s typical of Subaru), that’s because it clearly resembles last year’s VIZIV Tourer Concept, which had an almost identical hexagonal grille, forward-thrusting styling and powerful fenders.
In fact, here’s what we had to say about the VIZIV back in March of 2018: “This particular concept should go on to spawn a production wagon, either compact or mid-size. A direct replacement for the Levorg is the first thing that comes to mind.”
Some things are just very obvious from the get-go. Like the VIZIV Tourer Concept, the all-new Levorg should look to impress people with its wide range of driver-assistive technologies, such as an enhanced EyeSight system, plus updated radar and navigation systems.
According to Subaru, models like the 2020 Levorg will facilitate a future in which “everyone can enjoy driving at the full, at their will” – which suggests semi-autonomous capabilities.
Subaru currently sells the Levorg in Japan, Europe, Australia and other parts of Asia – but not the U.S.
