Videos of the 2020 Corvette Stingray continue to trickle out before Chevrolet’s embargo is lifted and the first official reviews are published in mid-October.
These two clips come from journalist Jason Cammisa, with the first showing an onboard acceleration run in the new mid-engined sports car and the second filmed from the passenger’s seat as the driver was doing some impressive donuts.
Chevrolet has boldly claimed that the C8 Corvette can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in under 3 seconds with the optional Z51 Performance Package. In the first clip, it doesn’t seem to get off the line that fast, but Cammisa points out that the test was done at an elevation of about 3,500 feet, launch control wasn’t enabled, the transmission was in ‘Tour’ mode, there was a passenger, and the run was done on a slight incline.

So, while we don’t get to experience the full potential of the ‘Vette’s straight-line performance, we have a nice view of the fully digital gauge cluster and seee that the C8 puts its power to the ground extremely well with very little wheel spin. The dual-clutch eight-speed automatic transmission also shifts through the gears quickly and with very little fuss.
We’ve got no doubt that the Corvette faithful will be waiting with bated breath to see what members of the press think of the car. We have a sneaking suspicion they’ll like it.
