Legacy Overland’s 1977 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 Has Original Looks And Modern Equipment

Legacy Overland has completed work on another classic Toyota Land Cruiser, unveiling this beautifully restored and upgraded FJ40 model from 1977.

The company wanted to preserve the iconic design of the vehicle and, therefore, decided against changing the exterior look of the car too much. What was done to the exterior is a lot more subtle yet much more impressive as all of the exterior body panels, brackets, fasteners, nuts, bolts, and other parts were restored and galvanized to ensure they remain in tip-top condition for years to come. The skin is also now painted in a shade dubbed Heath Gray.

As for the interior, it is bathed in camel-colored leather that includes perforated sections in the seats. A classic-looking Bluetooth-enabled RetroSound radio is also featured alongside a pair of front door speakers and two rear speakers sitting in custom speaker boxes.

Alterations enjoyed by this Land Cruiser FJ40 are much more than visual. For starters, it includes a rebuilt 4-speed manual transmission and transfer case. There is also a new Weber carburetor, power steering, upgraded front disc and rear drum brakes, BFGoodrich Mud/Terrain tires, 15-inch steel wheels, OEM chrome hub caps, Old Man Emu suspension components including new springs and shocks, and LED headlights.

Legacy also went to the trouble of fitting a new air conditioning unit, U.S.-style OEM roll bar, rear LED utility light, a new rear license plate holder, and a glove box with a 12V socket and lamp.
