Lil’ Monster Truck Suzuki Jimny Isn’t Scared Of Any Terrain

Despite its compact size, the Suzuki Jimny has long been revered for its off-road capabilities and this particular one from Japan is without a doubt the most remarkable example we’ve come across.

The wild creation comes courtesy of the students from the Nihon Automobile College (NATS) who displayed it alongside the RX-8-based Mazda RX-Vision Concept replica  at last week’s Tokyo Motor Show and slipped under our radar until now. Fittingly dubbed the ‘Jimny Adventure’, the compact off-roader could probably tackle the most difficult terrain without breaking a sweat.

Found beneath the skin of the vehicle are a multitude of bespoke components to ensure the Jimny is never out-matched by larger off-roaders like the Toyota Land Cruiser and Jeep Wrangler. The ride height has been boosted, there are new springs and shocks, and the car is sitting on a set of massive off-road wheels and tires.

Elsewhere, the creation has undergone a series changes to the bodywork, including the removal of normal doors and the fitment of steel tubing painted white wrapping around its exterior. The entire roof assembly can also be removed to provide occupants with an open-air driving experience much like a Wrangler. A set of Recaro seats are also featured.

Powering the Suzuki Jimny is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine pumping out 101 hp and 96 lb-ft (130 Nm) of torque. This engine can be mated to either a five-speed manual gearbox or a four-speed automatic sending power to all four wheels. That may not sound like much but for a vehicle that only weighs a touch over 1000 kg (2200 lbs), it’s more than adequate.
