If you’re a Ford Focus RS fan, then all you’ll want for Christmas is Mountune’s new tuning package that’s in development.
Aimed at the Mk3 that’s powered by the 2.3-liter EcoBoost, the bundle of upgrades has brought a jaw-dropping 684 horsepower and 566.5 pound-feet (768 Nm) of torque to the party, with E30 fuel. That’s nearly double the output of the stock Focus RS, which enjoys 350 hp and does the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 4.7 seconds.

Measured on the dyno, the staggering result has made the tuner claim that this could be the highest output four-pot out there, leaving Mercedes-AMG’s 2.0-liter, turbo-four far behind. The mill that powers the new AMG 45 S lineup generates 415 hp and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque. Whether Mountune’s creation is as reliable, is a very good question, indeed.
They did not say when they’re planning to launch the new kit, but if you cannot wait for it to come out, then you could still enjoy a very impressive 512 horsepower, via the M520 package. Mixing it with supercars in a straight-line acceleration is going to set you back £5,975 ($7,299/€6,651) in the UK. Or, for a more reasonable £2,950 ($3,604/€3,284), you could get the M450 pack, which will still make your Focus RS more powerful than the new A45 S, giving it 444 hp.
While tuners cannot stop modifying the previous-gen Focus RS, Ford is working on the Mk4 and should launch it next year, making it more powerful and faster than its predecessor.
