The new generation Audi A1 is no longer offered in an S1 hot iteration, and an RS1 seems highly unlikely at this point. Thus, anyone interested in a quicker version of the supermini has no choice but to turn to tuning companies, and one of the first they should check out is ABT Sportsline.
Known for being an expert at modifying Volkswagen Group cars, the tuner offers a power bump for the 40 TFSI version, letting it enjoy 240 PS (237 hp / 177 kW) and 360 Nm (265 lb-ft) of torque. That’s 40 PS (39 hp / 29 kW) and 40 Nm (30 lb-ft) more than the factory offering, whereas coming to slightly boost the visual appeal are the 18-inch wheels and lowered suspension.

Now, that’s the version aimed at the masses, as Daniel Abt himself has a truly insane A1, with a whopping 400 PS (394 hp / 294 kW) and a jaw-dropping body kit. It borrows some design elements from DTM racers and rocks big bumpers, fender extensions, gigantic rear wing, dual exhaust pipes incorporated into the diffuser and center-locking 19-inch wheels, while its custom wrap combines red and black.
The interior has been wrapped in Alcantara, with the usual leather appliques here and there, joined together by red contrast stitching. The roll cage and front bucket seats with ‘One of One’ embossing, which is the unofficial name of this extremely powerful A1, complete the look.
Putting the spotlight again on what is one of ABT’s craziest projects yet was Auditography, who had the rare occasion to check it out in person and experience the brutal acceleration that, combined with the bad@ss body kit, reminds us of the Golden Era of rallying.
