A stunning Porsche 911 Carrera Safari recreation is looking for a new home in Berlin, Germany.

Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Porsche raced the 911 in various rally championships and actually went on to win the Monte Carlo Rally three times. Porsche left the WRC in the early 1970s and soon after they built the 911 Safari for races such as the 5000 km-long East Africa Safari Rally. It became an icon, and a number of companies have since popped up offering upgrade packages to turn regular 911s into ‘Safari’ models.

This listing for this particular example, currently for sale on Mobile.de, doesn’t state who is behind this recreation, although they seem to have done a pretty good job.

For starters, the car has been equipped with a set of big off-road tires to help it over difficult terrain. In addition, the front fascia now incorporates a skid plate to protect the underbody from rocks and the like. Our favorite aspect is the roof where there is a black rack that holds a spare wheel and tire should anything unfortunate happen during an off-roading adventure – and, to help even more, there’s a shovel fitted to the engine cover.

This being a 1985 911 Carrera, it is powered by a 3.2-liter flat-six delivering 231 HP and mated to a manual transmission.

The listing states that the car has just 911 km (566 miles) under its belt, which means it’s barely run-in – which might explain its asking price of €135,000 (US$150,000).
