Regardless of whether you find yourself favoring high-performance electric sedans over ICE-powered alternatives or vice versa, it’s impossible to deny that both the Tesla Model S P100D and Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4MATIC+ 4-Door are extremely impressive. Love Cars recently put the duo together to see which is the king off the line.
We all know that the Tesla Model S P100D is an animal in a straight-line. In fact, its 100 kWh battery pack and two electric motors mean it can it 62 mph (100 km/h) in as little as 2.4-seconds under ideal conditions
By comparison, the GT 63 4MATIC+ 4-Door featured uses a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine pumping out 577 hp. It is the slightly less powerful brother to the range-topping GT 63 S and has the pace to frighten some pretty formidable supercars.

Unsurprisingly, it is the Model S P100D that consistently powers off the line quicker than the Mercedes. That’s not the end of the story, however, as the Mercedes does eventually catch up as the speeds increase to beyond 150 mph (250 km/h) and there’s no doubt that the 630 hp GT 63 S variant would have made up ground even quicker.
Which of the two would you prefer to drive on an everyday basis? If you’re looking for something that can smoke virtually all other production cars at the traffic lights, the Tesla Model S P100D is the obvious choice. If you’re more interested in owning a sedan clad in the most luxurious materials imaginable that also happens to be a performance weapon, the Mercedes is very tempting.
