The 2JZ engine made famous by the Toyota Supra is so beloved by car enthusiasts that a car fan by the name of Luis Rodriguez decided to build his very own sports car using this engine and fittingly dubbed the ‘2 Jet Z’. Jay Leno recently drove it.

Describing the 2 Jet Z is quite difficult as it is unlike anything else on the road. Perhaps the best way to go would be to say it’s a mix between an Ariel Atom, a BAC Mono, and a fighter jet. The car only features a single seat that is centrally-positioned like the Mono and all up, the car only weighs 1,600 lbs (725 kg).

It is also incredibly powerful. In fact, Leno says the turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder 2JZ powering the 2 Jet Z offers up to 627 hp in maximum attack mode and slightly less at 525 hp when the owner wants to drive it in a more civilized way.

One of the coolest features is that its exhaust has been designed to mimic the look of a jet engine. The cabin is also covered in yellow-colored glass. It is also so wild that it was crowed the Hot Wheels Legends Tour Champion at SEMA back in 2018.

This clearly isn’t the type of car you take down to the shops or drive a date to dinner with. It’s all about driving thrills and appears perfectly fit for that purpose.
