Toyota HiLux Gets More Active Safety Systems And A Stop-Start System

The Toyota HiLux is receiving a range of updates in the UK market in order to become more versatile and satisfy the needs of different customers.

The UK range of the Toyota HiLux starts with the base Active Single and Extra Cab models, which instead of passenger car-like carpets and upholstery, come with easy-care PVC seats and flooring for those looking for a reliable workhorse.

Toyota’s latest-generation Safety Sense is also made available across the range; Icon, Invincible and Invincible X models get it as standard and Active variants as an option. The Japanese manufacturer has added Adaptive Cruise Control and a Pre-Collision System to it, in addition to Lane Departure Warning and Road Sign Assist.

The 2.4-liter turbodiesel engine also gains an eco start-stop system as standard on Icon models and above, further improving fuel economy and emissions.

At the top of the range sits the Invincible X variant, which features a new smoked chrome trim on the upper front grille surround, fog light bezels, door and tailgate handles, door mirror casings, front and rear under-runs and rear bumper corners. The HiLux Invincible X also comes with black side bars and 18-inch alloy wheels with a two-tone machined finish. The interior gets piano black detailing on the dash, door cards, steering wheel and gear lever.

Another feature that makes its return to the range is the manual transmission option in the Invincible X Double Cab. All models in the range come with all-wheel drive and either a 3.2- or a 3.5-tonne braked trailer towing capacity.

Sales of the updated Toyota HiLux are starting now, with on-the-road prices kicking off from £20,424 for the Active Single Cab AWD for commercial customers.
