Mazda has just announced UK pricing and specs for its popular supermini model, the Mazda2. It arrives in dealerships at the end of November and will cost upwards of £15,795 ($19,432), this price representing the entry-level 1.5 75 PS SE-L version.

Novelties include a simplified five-model range, powered by Mazda’s 1.5-liter Skyactiv-G petrol engine, which for the first time has gained the automaker’s M Hybrid mild-hybrid system.

Visually, there’s a new grille with a mesh pattern, revised headlights and redesigned rear bumper for the exterior, while the cabin gains revisions to dashboard trims, air vent louvres, door inserts and instrument hood. There are also new front seats, new damping materials, better sound insulation and even revisions to the power steering for improved response and feel.

The entry-level SE-L model’s standard equipment list includes rear parking sensors, 15-inch alloys, LED headlights, climate control and cruise control. The SE-L Nav (£16,795 / $20,663), Sport Nav (£17,495 / $21,524) and GT Sport Nav (£18,295 / $22,508) are powered by a 90 PS version of the 1.5-liter Skyactiv-G unit and come with Mazda Connect, 7-inch color touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Front Smart City Brake Support, Lane Departure Warning and Lane-Keep Assist.

Sport Nav, Sport Nav Auto (£19,595 / $24,108) and GT Sport Nav models get 16-inch alloys, glossy black grille treatment, rear privacy glass, shark-fin antenna and chrome exhaust trim to go with smart keyless entry. Meanwhile, the flagship GT Sport Nav is the only one with a reversing camera, leather seats, heated front seats and steering wheel, and a color head-up display.

“The Mazda2 may be the smallest car we produce, but it has at its heart the same values of style, driver involvement and quality that mark out all our vehicles. With the updated 2020 Mazda2 all of these attributes have been enhanced; the Mazda2 is now even better to drive, plus it’s more efficient. Add in the refreshed styling, upgraded interior and the generous equipment tally across all models and we have a distinctive and premium contender in what is still one of the most competitive segments in the UK car market,” said Mazda UK managing director, Jeremy Thomson.
