The third-generation Hyundai i20 has been spotted once again during testing, this time with a little less camouflage than before.

Mind you, the most sensitive areas are still covered with a black cloth but this time we can see more of the supermini’s design, including the interior. Hyundai’s competitor for the Ford Fiesta, VW Polo and the like will bring a more dynamic look on the outside, with sleeker headlights with integrated DRLs flanking a new cascading grille.

Another striking exterior element is the ascending waistline that connects the headlights and the taillights. The camouflage does not allow us to see their shape, but a look at the vehicle’s digital instrument panel reveals the design of the car and it looks like the taillights will be united by a horizontal light bar.

The interior shots also reveal a fully digital instrument panel as well as a sizable infotainment display atop the center console. The 2020 Hyundai i20 will use the same platform as the current model but modifications will bring significant improvements in terms of handling. The engine lineup is expected to stay the same for the regular model.

It will include a 1.0-liter T-GDI turbocharged three-cylinder with 100 PS (99 HP) and 120 PS (118 HP) or a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder with 75 PS (74 HP) and 84 PS (83 HP). Transmission choices will include five- or six-speed manual unit and a seven-speed DCT dual-clutch gearbox.

The big news will be the addition of a 1.6-liter turbo-four in the new i20 N hot hatch variant producing 204 PS (201 HP). The range-topping model will also feature a firmer suspension, uprated brakes, and a sportier styling.
