We’re just days away from the Los Angeles Auto Show and Porsche will use the event to introduce three vehicles including the electric Taycan 4S.
Starting with that model, the Taycan 4S slots beneath the Taycan Turbo and costs $103,800. That makes the model $47,100 less expensive than the Taycan Turbo and $81,200 cheaper than the Taycan Turbo S.
Of course, there are some trade offs. The entry-level variant features a smaller 79.2 kWh battery and two electric motors that produce a combined output of up to 523 hp (390 kW / 530 PS).
Buyers looking for more power can order the optional Performance Battery Plus. It carries over from the Taycan Turbos and has a capacity of 93.4 kWh. Besides the bigger battery, the output climbs to 563 hp (420 kW / 571 PS).

Despite having two different powertrains, both models accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 3.8 seconds and have a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). Porsche declined to release the EPA range estimates but, in Europe, the base model can travel 252 miles (405 km) in the WLTP cycle. The Performance Battery Plus increases the range to 287 miles (462 km) and should appeal to customers with range anxiety.
Fans looking for something more traditional can check out the Macan Turbo which is celebrating its US debut in Los Angeles. It has a new twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 that produces 434 hp (324 kW / 440 PS) and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque.
The engine is connected to a seven-speed PDK transmission and a standard all-wheel drive system. This enables the crossover to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in as little as 4.1 seconds. Given enough room, the Macan Turbo will eventually hit a top speed of 167 mph (269 km/h).
Last but not least, Porsche will show the 99X Electric race car. The model will compete in the 2019/2020 ABB FIA Formula E Championship and the company says the car will also “serve as a development platform for future all-electric production road cars.”
