We’ve been treated to some very exciting cars this year, and only a handful have been selected for the 2019 North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year (NACTOY) final, hosted at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Voted by a panel of 50 jurors, each one has to be brand new and available at dealerships across the nation before the end of the year in order to be eligible for the coveted award. So, without further ado, let’s go through each category and try to spot the winners.
Car Of The Year – Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Hyundai Sonata, Toyota Supra
The first-ever mid-engined Chevrolet Corvette has gone to war in this category with the Toyota Supra and Hyundai Sonata. The three cars managed to beat some very popular models in the semi-finals, such as the Porsche 911, Polestar 1, BMW 3-Series, Cadillac CT5, Mercedes-Benz A-Class, Volkswagen Arteon, Kia Soul, Mazda3 and Subaru Legacy.
Utility Of The Year – Hyundai Palisade, Kia Telluride, Lincoln Aviator
The short list in the ever-popular high-riding vehicle category doesn’t include the Audi E-Tron, Cadillac XT6, Lincoln Corsair, Volvo V60 Cross Country, Chevrolet Blazer, Ford Escape and Explorer, Subaru Outback and Honda Passport anymore. Instead, the jurors have picked their favorites, and these are the Hyundai Palisade, Kia Telluride and Lincoln Aviator.
Truck Of The Year – Ford Ranger, Jeep Gladiator, Ram Heavy Duty
Three popular pickup trucks have made it to the big final, leaving the Chevrolet Silverado Heavy Duty and GMC Sierra Heavy Duty behind. These are the Ford Ranger, Jeep Gladiator and Ram Heavy Duty.
Now, which rides would get your vote? You have enough time to decide, as the winners will be presented with the awards on January 13, 2020, at the TCF Center in Detroit, during a special event hosted together with Detroit Auto Dealers Association and the North American International Auto Show. Speaking of the latter, the 2020 edition has been moved to next summer.
