Cupra is showcasing the 300 PS (296 HP) Ateca crossover on a special track in Paris that stands 27-meters (88.5 feet) in the air. The track also features a final turn with a 21-degree incline, which World Touring Car racer Mikel Azcona will tackle at speeds of up to 120 km/h (74 mph).
The track was constructed not too far from the Eiffel tower, and stands as the first ever to be built on a rooftop in Paris, according to the Spanish carmaker.
“I’ve been to racetracks all over the world, but never on one like this with such spectacular views,” said Azcona, who traded in his Cupra TCR for the Ateca for this unique experience. “Driving in the rain was even more amazing, but it had surprising grip on this slippery track – it was incredible.”

He then went on to add how impressed he was with the crossover’s aggressiveness and power output, “in addition to how agile it is in the curves.”
Powering the Cupra Ateca is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-pot, producing 300 PS (296 HP) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque, which get sent to all four wheels with the aid of a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. In a straight line, the Ateca can go from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 5.2 seconds, before maxing out at 247 km/h (153 mph).
The Ateca is of course the first model for the now standalone Cupra sub-brand. Aside from being quick, it also comes with an adaptive suspension as standard, which can be manipulated by using the available Drive Profile modes – Normal, Sport, Individual, Snow, Off-Road and CUPRA.
