We’re just one week away from Skoda lifting the veils off an all-new generation of the Octavia, and to celebrate the countdown, the Czech carmaker released a short video teaser.
While the clip isn’t particularly revealing, those of you who’ve seen spy images, or better yet, that silhouette teaser from last month, should recognize certain design patterns, such as the Audiesque way the headlights meet the grille, or the design of the light graphics.
Speaking of which, according to Skoda, the new Octavia will boast full-LED Matrix headlights with “two sharply defined, L-shaped light lines separating the two LED modules from each other.” Meanwhile, the rear end also features LED technology as well as an animated Coming/Leaving Home function.

We should note that this video teaser doesn’t appear to match that alleged leaked configurator image sourced from the Skoda Home forum. The headlights on that car seem significantly thinner and longer than the ones on video, and the exterior mirrors don’t seem to match either.
Also, it’s clear now that Skoda were being quite coy with their prototypes, fitting them with unnecessary front fascia body cladding and possibly fake headlights too – so as to throw us off the scent a little bit.
All things considered, we’re really getting a strong Audi vibe here, in terms of design. It’s a good thing Skoda doesn’t really do gigantic gaping grilles, otherwise the symbiosis would have been complete, for better or worse.
The world premiere of the 2020 all-new Skoda Octavia will take place on November 11 in Prague.
