The Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio sits in the same segment as the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 and BMW X3 M. Nonetheless, on a good day, it can send shivers down the spine of even the fastest and most expensive SUVs, such as the Lamborghini Urus.
It certainly has the firepower to do so, as there is some Prancing Horse blood running through its veins. The 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine has been engineered by Ferrari and puts out 510 PS (503 hp / 375 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque. From 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph), the Stelvio Quadrifoglio needs only 3.8 seconds, and it tops out at 283 km/h (176 mph).

While the Stelvio is based on the same platform as the Giulia, the Lamborghini Urus shares its underpinnings with other premium mid-size SUVs from the Volkswagen Group. It’s also bigger, heavier and much more expensive, but it compensates by having great driving dynamics (for an SUV) and a powerful 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 pumping out 650 PS (641 hp / 478 kW) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque. The Urus is 0.2 seconds quicker than the Stelvio Quadrifoglio to 60 mph and has a 305 km/h (190 mph) top speed.
Thus, the balance seems to tilt in favor of the Urus, which is both faster and more powerful, but the driver factor needs to be weighed in, too. The following video, which was shot in Modena, Italy, shows a few drag races between the two. So, would you put your money on the smaller Alfa Romeo, or would you stick to the big bad Lambo?
