“Is that an old Jaguar? A Limited edition bespoke Aston? Oh, it’s a Maserati, right?” Nope! It’s a 2007 Spyker C8 Laviolette and it comes from The Netherlands, of all places.

Rest assured that, unless you’re only talking to fervent car enthusiasts, you’ll leave everyone scratching their heads both about the brand and the fact that the Dutch actually build cars – and one of them somehow ended up in Houston, Texas…

The flip side of that is the exclusivity factor, of course. This example is one of only 26 cars produced for the 2007 model year, and according to its Bring a Trailer ad, it only has 10,000 miles (16,000 km) on its mid-mounted 4.2-liter Audi V8 engine.

The black exterior features aluminum side mirrors, a glass roof, scissor doors, 19-inch Aeroblade alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport tires and AP Racing brake calipers, while the cabin boasts black leather upholstery with quilted stitching, Spyker logos in the headrests, aluminum trim on the dash and center console, air conditioning, power windows and more.

As for performance, the engine puts down 400 PS (395 HP) and 354 lb-ft (480 Nm) of torque with the help of a six-speed manual transaxle that sends power to the rear wheels. With enough room, the Spyker C8 could reportedly run all the way up to 186 mph (300 km/h).

Back in 2007, this car cost an impressive $213,790. Seeing as, with eight days to go, the bidding has already reached $175,000, it’s possible that we’re looking at a car that might just appreciate with time.
